Florida Paycheck Calculator 2026

How your Florida paycheck is calculated
Because Florida doesn’t tax wages, figuring out your take-home pay comes down to three federal taxes and your own deductions:
- Federal income tax on your pay after pre-tax deductions and the 2026 standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household).
- Social Security at 6.2% of wages up to $184,500.
- Medicare at 1.45% of all wages, plus an extra 0.9% on wages over $200,000.
The calculator works out each tax for the full year, then divides by the number of paychecks.
Example: $60,000 a year, single, paid biweekly
| Item | Per year | Per paycheck |
|---|---|---|
| Gross pay | $60,000.00 | $2,307.69 |
| Federal income tax | $5,020.00 | $193.08 |
| Social Security | $3,720.00 | $143.08 |
| Medicare | $870.00 | $33.46 |
| Florida income tax | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Take-home pay | $50,390.00 | $1,938.08 |
Federal: $60,000 − $16,100 = $43,900 taxable, which is 10% of the first $12,400 plus 12% of the remaining $31,500 = $5,020. The same job in a state with an income tax would take home less; in New Jersey, for example, it’s about $48,180.

Taxes Florida does and doesn’t have
- No tax on wages. Florida’s constitution prohibits a personal income tax on residents.
- No employee payroll deductions. Florida reemployment (unemployment) tax is paid by employers only, and the state has no disability or family leave payroll tax.
- Sales tax instead. Florida has a 6% state sales tax, and most counties add a local surtax. That affects your budget, but not your paycheck.
Minimum wage in Florida
Florida’s minimum wage rose to $15.00 an hour on September 30, 2026, the last step of the increases voters approved in 2020. That is $31,200 a year for full-time work before taxes, or about $1,048 every two weeks after federal taxes for a single filer. Tipped employees can be paid $11.98 an hour as long as tips bring them up to $15.00. From 2027 the rate is adjusted for inflation each year.
Things that change your Florida take-home pay
- Pre-tax deductions. Traditional 401(k) contributions lower your federal income tax. Health, dental and FSA deductions lower your federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare.
- Working in another state. If you live in Florida but work in a state with an income tax, that state can tax your wages. This calculator assumes you work in Florida.
- Your W-4. Extra withholding, a second job or dependents you list on Form W-4 change how much your employer withholds.
Accuracy and limitations
- This is an estimate of your 2026 federal tax for the year, spread evenly across paychecks. Employers use IRS withholding tables, which can produce slightly different amounts per paycheck.
- It assumes this job is your only income, and you take the standard deduction. The Child Tax Credit and the credit for other dependents are included when you enter dependents; other credits are not.
- It doesn’t include bonuses or other income. Overtime is included when you enter it with an hourly wage.
